The Cowboys just secured the futures of two prominent starters, RB Marion Barber and CB Terence Newman, by signing them to multi-year extensions.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Newman’s new deal is for $50.2 million over six years, putting him in the neighborhood of the richest CB’s in the league.

Barber’s deal is reportedly worth $45 million over seven years. That might seem like alot, considering they have to still sign first round pick RB Felix Jones. But in today’s NFL, the RBBC (running back by committee) approach is becoming more and more successful. Also, Jerry Jones couldn’t pass up the Razorback, especially since they share the same last name.

Aside from Newman and Barber, the Cowboys have re-signed Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Bradie James, Jay Ratliff, and Roy Williams before they were allowed to test the free agent waters.
