Cowboys re-sign Terrell Owens

After living up to his 3 year, $25 million deal he signed in 2005, Terrell Owens agreed to a new deal Monday. The numbers? 4 years, $34 million, with a $12.9M signing bonus.

Dallas continues its trend of locking up their own before they can test free agency or walk for nothing.

Set to earn $27 million over the next three years, he’s among the NFL’s highest paid receivers.

Dallas is mastering the art of keeping its nucleus intact. With Romo, Witten, Ware, Newman, Barber, Owens locked up long term, and the addition of rookie RB Felix Jones, Jerry Jones is in win now mode and we see no reason why Dallas can’t be a perennial Superbowl contender in the NFC for at least the next couple of seasons. The bigger question that remains is can Romo win in the playoffs? Anything less than reaching the NFC Championship, barring injuries, would be a disappointment. Nevertheless, it should be a fun battle this year (and beyond) in the NFC East.
