Thanks to Rotoworld and the various sites I link to. Let’s get this started:
- According to the Baltimore Sun, longtime mainstay at offensive tackle, and possible future Hall Of Fame candidate, Jonathan Odgen, is expected to announce his retirement within the coming days. He has told a few around him but hasn’t made it official to coach John Harbaugh yet.
- Contrary to previous reports, Chad Johnson went back on his earlier statement that he would report to Bengals camp as soon as possible, in an interview with SIRIUS radio and according to the Dayton Daily News. Johnson says that “he’s keeping his options open” and that “football doesn’t have to be his backbone.” We think his commitment to football at this point is questionable but when it’s all said and done, he’ll be at camp and on the field this season.
- According to the Contra Costa Times, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin reportedly told RB LaMont Jordan that he won’t be practicing with the team, meaning it looks as if he won’t be a Raider much longer. With #4 overall pick Darren McFadden and last year’s team leader in rushing yards, Justin Fargas, and Michael Bush finally healthy, Jordan has no role on the team. He should catch on elsewhere as a backup, once he’s officially released.
- The Houston Texans have signed GM Rick Smith to an extension thru 2012, according to the Houston Chronicle. He is currently the NFL’s youngest GM and his team looks ready to make the push into playoff contention. They sure got the better end of the Mario Williams vs. Reggie Bush decision.
I like the ideas of these roundups, especially during the height of the off season. I think they will be utilized more so look out for daily roundups of the NFL world.
Also, be on the lookout for some articles from our very own Appaloosa, as he’ll be gracing us with his work. Trust me, he’s a great writer and he’s got some seriously informative articles, so be sure to check back for that.
That’s it for me for tonight!
