Three days after senator Arlen Specter declared that Spygate was over, today he says his words “didn’t come out with the proper flavor”, according to a report from the NY Times. Here’s the most important excerpt from the article:
“My view on the overall situation is that we may well see the other shoe drop somewhere,” Specter said. “We went about as far as we could go, given the public attitude today about the economy and gas prices and Iraq. We’re always very careful about initiating a Congressional investigation.
“But that isn’t to say, by any means, it’s over.”
Wow, this…just…won’t…die. Specter seems hellbent on bringing justice to the league and punishment to the Pats, but it’s about time he comes with something juicy or gives up altogether. Matt Walsh didn’t have anything, Roger Goodell didn’t have anything, it’s doubtful that a senator from Philadelphia will find something concrete enough to warrant more action taken against the Pats.
The saga continues.
