Adam Schein, of SNY, is reporting that Chargers WR Eric Parker, who the team has
been dangling in trade talks, has narrowed his choices for a future home down to the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets.
According to Schein, Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who coached Parker in San Diego, wants him “pretty bad” for a late round pick in next year’s draft. It remains to be seen what pick, if any, the Jets have offered so far but there is a “strong possibility” that Parker could land with Gang Green.
Parker isn’t a huge need for the Browns, considering they have enough offensive firepower with Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. Offensive firepower is something the Jets are lacking, as well as a solid #3 WR. Brad Smith has yielded marginal results thus far and the other candidates to step up and take the position are a rookie, Marcus Henry, and a 2007 seventh round pick, Chansi Stuckey, who has injury concerns.
