LaMont Jordan visits the Lions

in Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders

Raiders RB LaMont Jordan, who was given permission by the team to seek a trade, made a trip up to Detroit recently to visit with the Lions. In June, the team kept Jordan out of team practices in an attempt to unload him somewhere else, but that didn’t happen, as the interest for a 30 year old RB with an injury history isn’t very high. According to Jordan’s agent, however, he’s had little contact with Detroit since the visit, raising speculation that the Lions weren’t really impressed with him.

After the team drafted Darren McFadden, Jordan found himself with no place on the Raiders, especially since RB is one of the team’s stronger positions with Justin Fargas, who filled in nicely last season when Jordan went down, and Michael Bush, who the Raiders see as having tons of potential, but never played a down last year due to a nagging injury that cut his college career short. The Raiders are reportedly asking for a sixth or seventh round draft choice in order to acquire Jordan.
