Continuing on with Favre Watch, The Man finally speaks out for the first time.
In an interview with Fox News, Favre has confirmed that he wants to indeed play in 2008 but doesn’t feel welcome in Green Bay and again has asked to be released, and not traded, from the team. Favre has said that he “wasn’t fully committed to retiring” and “felt pressured by the organization”. He also reiterates that if the Packers want to move on without him, that’s fine, but to release him, as he doesn’t prefer to backup Aaron Rodgers.
Best quote of the interview?
“Them moving on does not bother me,” Favre said. “It doesn’t. I totally understand that. By me retiring March 3rd, I knew that could possibly happen. All I was saying is, you know, I’m thinking about playing again.”
It’s still unclear what the organization’s thinking is regarding this fiasco or the direction they’ll take, but one is to assume that, because they hold his rights, things will be done on their timetable. This is just the latest installment of Favre Watch, and there’s bound to be many, many more so check back for more updates.
