Colts All-World QB Peyton Manning will be out of action for 4-6 weeks, after he underwent surgery today to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee. Manning’s status for the season opener on Sept. 7th is unknown at this point. Colts president Bill Polian claimed the surgery was “routine” and expects Manning to make a full recovery.

Manning has only missed one play due to an injury in his 10-year tenure with Indy.

Peyton has said that he’s been treating the inflamed knee since February, before the pain got to be too much.
