The Redskins and former University of Hawaii QB Colt Brennan agreed to a 4-year deal today. The sixth round pick will make around $1.8 million over the 4 years of the deal, but this is good news for Brennan, in more than one way.

After an absolute dismal performance in the Sugar Bowl (169 yards, no TD’s, 3 INT’s), and combined with his smallish size (6″2′, 207 lbs), many questioned if he had the tools and physique to make it in the NFL. If those doubts weren’t bad enough, Brennan had hip surgery in early April which presumably meant he’d start the season on the PUP list. Brennan surprised everyone though, recovering quickly from the surgery, gaining clearance to practice with the team and putting on weight. At 220 lbs and with a deal secured, Brennan can expect to be the team’s third string QB behind Jason Campbell and Todd Collins.
