Colston gets three-year extension

After two breakout seasons to start off his career, Saints WR Marques Colston will stay in the Big Easy for atleast three more, as he and the team agreed to an extension today. The new deal will keep the young phenom with New Orleans through 2011. Terms of the deal aren’t available, but it should pay more than the $445,000 he’s scheduled to make from his rookie deal.

Colston figures to benefit from the addition of TE Jeremy Shockey, who adds another dimension to an already explosive offense. With no real threat at tight-end in his first two seasons, Colston still put up impressive stats, 2,241 yards, and 19 touchdowns. With all that being said, and the fact that the third year are the ”break out” year for wide-outs, there should be no reason why Colston can’t put up 1300-1400 yards and 12+ touchdowns.
