The Jets and #6 overall pick, LB Vernon Gholston, have agreed to terms on a contract. No numbers are out yet, but it’s rumored that it’s a five-year deal. Because he hadn’t agreed to the deal earlier, Gholston missed the Jets first AM training camp practice. The deal has to be approved by the NFL before it’s official, but Gang Green fans might be able to see Gholston in action when the Jets hold their second practice at 5:45 PM. Also noted in the article is that Jets coach Eric Mangini has dispelled rumors that the team is interested in Brett Favre.

More to come as the off-season is officially over and training camp is underway!

According to a press release, the Jets cancelled the press conference announcing Vernon Gholston’s signing to the media. Apparently, the deal is still waiting to be approved by the league, so that explains why Gholston didn’t attend the Jets PM practice. Though, don’t fret Jet fans, the conference is still supposed to happen before the Jets 1:30 PM practice tomorrow. Sources say the deal is five-years, in the $45 million range.
