Packers, Favre close to trade agreement

in Green Bay Packers, Headliners

Two days ago I said not to expect any movement on the Brett Favre saga anytime soon, but boy was I wrong. According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, the Packers and Favre are nearing an agreement to finally settle this situation. Under the terms of the trade, Green Bay would come up with a list of teams that are most interested in the QB, and then he can choose his own destination. Though this is a significant step in jettisoning Favre out of Wisconsin, it “could take awhile”, according to a source, and that team management is “hoping for a big injury” to a QB somewhere around the league.

Tampa Bay still remains the top contender for Favre’s services, but other AFC teams such as the Dolphins, Ravens, and Texans remain interested, while the Redskins, Bucs, and Vikings are also in the hunt, though there’s a 0.1% chance Favre ends up in Minnesota. Eagles coach Andy Reid has recently denied interest in Favre, as has Jets coach Eric Mangini.
