The Bears and return specialist Devin Hester have agreed to terms on a new deal four-year deal that will keep him in the Windy City through 2013. Financial terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed yet, but it’s rumored to be in the $40 million range.
Never has a return-man caused such controversy with a team, or is justified enough to earn that $40 million, but when you’re a two-time Pro Bowler at the position and just three kick return TD’s away from setting a new NFL record, you’re not just a return-man anymore, you’re an irreplaceable weapon. And now Hester is moving around the field, trying his luck at the wide receiver position and, with his blazing speed, could turn out to surprise.
Last week, Hester held out of the Bears training camp, in search of a new deal. Well, now that he’s got it, he will be grinning from ear-to-ear at every Bears practice here on out.
