According to WTMJ-TV Channel 4 in Milwaukee, Packers CEO Mark Murphy offered Brett Favre $20 million over the next 10 years to stay at home and remain retired. This is an obvious effort to keep Favre away from Packers camp, which he’s expected to report to if he’s reinstated, and out of GM Ted Thompson and Murphy’s hair. Packers brass and Favre’s agent Bus Cook have discussed compensation to find a happy medium, but nothing more was said.
This is shaping up to be a very ugly situation between Favre and the Packers. Favre’s expected to be reinstated tomorrow by Roger Goodell and if this bribe falls through, he’s expected to show up at Packers camp Friday. This could all come to a head by the weekend, and if there’s a God, there will be a conclusion to this never-ending saga.
