Brady to undergo surgery, officially out for the season

Just wanted to confirm a previous report that was a rumor at the time, but now it’s official: Pats QB Tom Brady will undergo season ending surgery and will be placed on injured reserve. Coach Belichick didn’t say what the exact injury was, but all signs point to a torn ACL, and possibly MCL, in his left knee.

Matt Cassel, who hasn’t started a football game since high school, will assume the starting role while the Pats entertain the idea of bringing in waiver wire QB’s like Chris Simms, Tim Rattay, and Daunte Culpepper.
