New England might not chase after any high priced free-agents, but they make it a point to lock up their star players long-term.

This star player was nose tackle Vince Wilfork, who agreed to a new five-year deal with the term that will pay him $8 million per season. The deal also came with $18 million in signing bonus and $25 million guaranteed.

Wilfork, who has lobbied NE to give him a new deal, is the team’s best defensive player. A dominating force on the defensive line, Wilfork is a space-eater and excellent at penetration. With this new deal, it’ll pretty much ensure that Wilfork’s best days ahead of him will be spent in New England.
