LT2 could soon be trading in a lighting bolt for a viking horn.
Free-agent RB LaDainian Tomlinson is scheduled to meet with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, according to SI’s Jim Trotter. This has been since confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, as well.
This will be Tomlinson’s first visit with an NFL club since being cut by the Chargers last month.
The Vikings are in search of a backup RB to all-pro Adrian Peterson after Chester Taylor bolted to the Bears on the first day of free-agency. While Tomlinson has said he has no problems splitting carries as a backup, you have to wonder how much being the number two behind Peterson will hurt his pride. On the other hand, he would have a rock-solid offensive line to run behind, and playing in a dome wouldn’t hurt either. This looks like a good match for both parties and I could see a deal getting done.
