Even though Cleveland Browns GM Mike Holmgren revealed a few days ago that Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen doesn’t interest him, it doesn’t mean he’s not high on other prospects at the position.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is hearing that the team’s interest in Texas QB Colt McCoy is “real” and says not to rule out a trade to grab the young gunslinger. Mort speculates that Cleveland might package picks to move into the bottom of the first-round to ensure they get their man. If not, and he falls, they might use their second-rounder on him.
Whether this is true or not, even with the recent additions of QB’s Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme, the Browns are far from set at the most important position and really could use a long-term franchise option, such as McCoy.
