in New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers

In a shocking move late tonight, wide receiver Santonio Holmes is headed to the Jets.

According to a report on the Jets official website, New York has acquired Holmes for a 5th-round pick in this year’s draft.

Nothing more has been confirmed as of yet, so stay tuned for more.

UPDATE: This has been confirmed by the likes of ESPN.

Sensational trade for the Jets. Even with Santonio’s possible 4-game suspension, the compensation they gave up was pennies for a player with elite talent. This likely ends NY’s search for a receiver in the draft, atleast for the early rounds.

Meanwhile…Mike Wallace, your time is now.

UPDATE 2: There is now speculation running rampant that Jets scatback Leon Washington is part of the trade. It hasn’t been verified as true as of yet, but I’m keeping an eye on this.

According to the NY Post’s Bart Hubbuch, there is ‘no truth‘ to the Leon Washington rumors. The trade stands as originally reported.
