Carl Mayer, Jets Fan/Attorney, has filed a suit that will be heard by a Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia tomorrow. The suit claims that the Pats and their video taping escapade “violated the contractual expectations and rights of New York Jets ticket-holders.” Mayer wants Jets ticket holders to be refunded for every home game the Jets hosted for the Patriots since head coach Bill Belichick joined the team in 2000.
Mayer and co-counsel Bruce Afran also will argue that the Patriots violated federal racketeering laws as well as New Jersey’s consumer protection laws by concealing material facts — the existence of the videotaping — from paying customers.
The suit calculated that because customers paid $61.6 million to watch eight “fraudulent” games, they’re entitled to triple that amount — or $184.8 million — in compensation under racketeering and consumer fraud laws.
Afran then likened the Patriots performances to that of professional wrestling – rigged.
We are fairly unbiased here at H2H, but as a Raider fan *cough*tuck rule*cough*, and a Jets fan, we applaud Mayer for his tenacity and wish him the best of luck!
