Yesterday, I hinted that Brandon Marshall wouldn’t be a Bronco for long after he signed his tender. But he’s not joining Pete Carroll in Seattle, instead his new home will be South Beach.
The Broncos shipped off Marshall today to the Miami Dolphins for two second-round picks: one this year, and one in 2011. Following that, Marshall was rewarded with the contract extension he’s been seeking. The numbers? Four-years, $47.5 million, including $24 million guaranteed. Wow.
While Miami certainly is a better team after this move, that’s an awful lot of coin to shell out for a problem child receiver such as Marshall. Nevertheless, he is obviously an upgrade over Ted Ginn, Davone Bess, and Greg Camarillo. Quarterback Chad Henne’s stock just went way up and he’s probably grinning ear-to-ear right now.
