in Washington Redskins

After playing together in Philly, it was assumed T.O. and Donovan McNabb would never play on the same team again. Well, that might not be the case.

Sources tell ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio and Ed Werder that McNabb has lobbied for the Redskins coaching staff to sign the free-agent receiver.

Reportedly, both McNabb and Owens recently discussed the possibility of re-uniting, ironically while filming an episode of Pro’s vs. Joe’s that features them on the same basketball team.

Even though wide receiver is high on the coaching staff’s priority list, coach Mike Shanahan isn’t nearly as open to the idea as his new quarterback is. Should Washington come out of this (draft) weekend without a credible WR, one has to assume Shanahan would definitely re-consider.

The move would make sense to me. While Owens’ elite days are clearly behind him, there’s no reason the Redskins couldn’t stick him in the slot. Additionally, T.O. might offer Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly, two of the up-and-coming receivers on the team, some veteran guidance (without the whole diva routine, of course).
