Patriots 2 (62): LB Brandon Spikes

April 23, 2010

Patriots seem to be fixated at defense. They’ve just selected linebacker Brandon Spikes from Florida. Adding to his pass rush on 3rd down, Spikes will be just another cog in Belichick’s defensive personnel. Spikes is a effective as blitzer, but has some issues taking blocks one-on-one. I’m sure Belly will make something good of him, [...]

Jets 2 (61): OT Vlad Ducasse

April 23, 2010

The Jets pick Vlad Ducasse, OT out of  Massachusetts. He’s a big kid with some versatility. That’s what you do when you invest in a QB like Mark Sanchez. You build him a line so he can do his job. Jets making a really smart pick here. Share

Seahawks 2 (60): WR Golden Tate

April 23, 2010

Passing up the opportunity to take USC DE Everson Griffen, who Carroll coached, the Seahawks go WR and draft Notre Dame’s Golden Tate. A phenomenal slot receiver, Tate is quick and gets a lot of YAC. I like what Seattle is doing – shoring up all of their weaknesses. Share

Browns 2 (59): RB Montario Hardesty

April 23, 2010

The Eagles trade their pick to the Browns. Now Holmgren was talking about a QB… gotta take McCoy. Right? Best QB left on the board. Nope. Montario Hardesty, RB out of Tennessee. Arguably the most powerful runner in the draft, and probably the best RB left. Another kid with a knee injury in his past. [...]

Texans 2 (58): RB Ben Tate

April 23, 2010

The New England Patriots traded their 58th overall pick to the Texans who selected Ben Tate running back from Auburn. Solidly built and shifty, Tate adds another dimension to a loaded Houston offense. Steve Slaton, you’re now on the hot seat. Share

Ravens 2 (57): DT Terrence Cody

April 23, 2010

The Ravens select Terrence Cody, DT out of Alabama. MASSIVE mountain of a man. But that poundage affects his stamina. The Ravens are going to need to run Cody through some serious big league conditioning. If they get that under control, that’s a huge (literally) line the Ravens will have on the field. Share

Packers 2 (56): DE Mike Neal

April 23, 2010

Green Bay Packers select DE Mike Neal from Purdue. Has 13 sacks in 46 career games. High-motor, energetic, productive. The total package. Share

Cowboys 2 (55): ILB Sean Lee

April 23, 2010

The Cowboys select Sean Lee, ILB out of Penn State University. The big red flag here is his major knee surgery. He recovered and resumed his college career, but it’s not doubt that knee will be watched. He relies more on instinct and positioning than he does on speed or athleticism. Share
