Brady Quinn
It was a little surprising to me that the Jaguars didn’t select a premier quarterback in last month’s draft. They filled some needs on the defensive side of the ball, but seemingly stuck with David Garrard.
Now, that could all change, and Garrard himself could be getting some competition to start.
Per Josina Anderson, of FOX31 in Denver, the Jaguars have “discussed their interest” in Quinn and an unnamed DE/OLB. The unnamed player, some are speculating, could be Jarvis Moss, former first-round pick, who’s been something of a disappointment in Denver.
Reportedly, Jacksonville’s coach Jack Del Rio has always liked Quinn and actually wanted to draft him in 2007; now he might get his chance to coach the young quarterback.
Denver can afford to part with Quinn, especially with Tim Tebow on board. It’d be a little shocking though considering they gave up a good player (Peyton Hillis) to originally acquire him. But hey, nothing surprises me anymore in the NFL.
UPDATE: Now sources tell Anderson that the Broncos have “no interest in letting go of Quinn“. Apparently, Quinn has a strong relationship with his head coach, Josh McDaniels, and QB coach, Ben McDaniels. I didn’t expect Denver to come right out and confirm the rumor, but this was obviously a pipe dream for Del Rio & the Jaguars from the start.
