OK, so, looks like even passing a lie-detector test couldn’t guarantee the DROY honor is staying with Brian Cushing.
Just earlier today, the word was that a decision on a possible re-vote wouldn’t be made for a few days at the earliest. It only took a couple of hours, but the Associated Press will indeed conduct a re-vote on the 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
The AP’s vote will also go toward outside linebacker for the All-Pro team.
There’s a chance Cushing could win the most votes again, as he’ll be a candidate, but I doubt he will after being busted for PED’s. Washington’s Brian Orakpo, Green Bay’s Clay Matthews, and Buffalo’s Jairus Byrd will be the other options. If my vote counted, it’d go to Byrd, who will be a heck of a safety in the league for years to come.
