The Houston Texans will be without their star receiver for voluntary OTAs.
WR Andre Johnson will miss the team activities as he is unhappy with his current contract, which has five-years remaining on it.
Johnson signed an eight-year, $60 million deal in 2007, which is underpaid compared to some of the other elite players at his position (Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall) and for all intents and purposes deserves a pay bump. He has led the league in receiving yards each of the past two seasons and is a two-time All Pro. Not to mention the four Pro Bowl selections.
Though he might have earned it, it is very unlikely the Texans will re-negotiate a contract that has so many years left, especially with the uncertainty surrounding the CBA. This shouldn’t be a problem as Johnson will more than likely be back for mandatory duty.
