While it’s obvious that defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will be receiving a boatload of money, what is not so obvious is just how much money he’ll be receiving, how many years it’s spread over, his signing bonus, guaranteed money, etc.

And at the pace it’s going now, we might not find out until training camp opens in late July.

According to Omaha.com, Suh isn’t expected to sign a contract in the near future, as talks between his agent, Eugene Parker, and the Lions remain “slow”. Parker confirms, however, that there’s been dialogue between the team and himself.

“We’ve had conversations. It would be safe to say the parties are communicating. We have had and we are having communications.”

Although this news may worry some Lions fans, there’s a silver lining, as it doesn’t look like Suh will be staging a holdout over the summer.

“I’m not a guy that likes to be a part of drama,” Suh said. “I definitely don’t want to hold out.”

Suh, the number two overall pick in April’s draft, continues to participate in OTAs, and is going about his business while the two sides continue to hammer something out. It’s unclear if the team is using last year’s second overall pick, Rams offensive tackle Jason Smith, who signed a six-year, $61.775 million deal, as a starting point. Parker also mentioned that he’s not waiting for first or third overall picks, QB Sam Bradford and DT Gerald McCoy, respectively, to sign.

Despite the tight-lipped nature of the ongoing negotiations, one thing remains true: Suh will be a very, very rich man by the time August rolls around.
