Marlin Jackson

When free safety Marlin Jackson went down in practice earlier today, the Eagles feared the worst. Now, it’s no wonder why they did.

Per multiple reports, Jackson suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right foot, making it likely he’ll miss most, if not all, of the 2010 season. The team has confirmed the news.

After falling to the ground without contact, it was feared that Jackson hurt one of his knees, which he’s had back-to-back ACL surgeries on. This injury is just as bad because it typically takes a year to get back into form.

It’ll be a stretch to say he’ll be ready for the start of OTAs next season – if he even continues his NFL career.

With this unexpected loss, Macho Harris and rookie second-round pick Nate Allen will man the free safety spot for the Eagles defense.
