Philadelphia Eagles free safety Marlin Jackson was carted off of the field today after reportedly injuring his right ankle during practice, according to Eagles beat writer Jeffrey McLane.
According to McLane, Jackson was “visibly upset” and crying after leaving the building following the non-contact injury, which is never a good sign.
Jackson, one of Philly’s major free-agent signings, was penciled in the team’s starting safety, even with his extended injury history. When he went down, many speculated he re-injured his knees, which he’s had two consecutive ACL surgeries on.
In March, the Eagles signed the former Colts cornerback to a two-year contract.
The team will soon issue an update on Jackson’s status and the severity of the injury.
UPDATE: NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is hearing that Philadelphia is fearing the worst. One source told La Canfora “it’s not good“, and now Jackson could miss “much time” in 2010.
