Broncos coach Josh McDaniels must be OK with going into training camp with only three quarterbacks: Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn, and Tim Tebow.

I say that because this morning Denver has released QB Tom Brandstater, according to Josina Anderson of Fox31 in Denver.

Brandstater, who was a 6th-round pick of the Broncos in 2009, played in 45 games at Fresno State, amassing 6,800 passing yards to go along with 47 touchdown passes.

Many thought he’d get a shot to compete in training camp, but that was before the team went out and traded for Brady Quinn and then surprisingly took Tebow with the 25th overall pick. Those two moves spelled the end for Brandstater in Denver, though he should latch on to another team’s practice squad fairly quickly.
