Free-agent running back Brian Westbrook has several teams interested in him, but one team may be out of the running for the former Pro Bowler.
According to ESPN’s Bill Williamson, indications out of the team’s minicamp is the Denver Broncos may be “softening its pursuit” of the 30-year old Westbrook.
The logic right now being Denver wants to see what third-down back J.J. Arrington can bring to the table in training camp. If he proves he’s up to the task, the team would have no need for the aging and injury-prone Westbrook.
On the flip-side, if Arrington doesn’t show much, or goes down with an injury, the Broncos could take a more serious look at him. As of now, however, St. Louis and Washington are the remaining options.
