What was a fairly common diagnosis yesterday turns into a season-ending injury today for Big Blue.

According to Ralph Vacchiano, who covers the team for the NY Daily News, wide receiver Domenik Hixon suffered a torn right ACL in yesterday’s practice and will miss the entire 2010 season.

Initially, the Giants were calling it a hyperextension of his knee but now we know that was because the ligament was already torn. Hixon will have surgery to correct the injury in 2-3 weeks.

This doesn’t hurt New York at receiver as much as it does on special teams. Hixon was slated to return punts and kicks, and with his speed he has big play potential.

Should his rehab go smoothly, he’ll likely be ready by training camp in 2011.
