Four years and two teams later, Dre Bly’s coming back to the Motor City.
According to John Niyo, of the Detroit News, the Lions have signed the cornerback to a two-year deal.
Bly, who originally signed with Detroit in 2003, spent four seasons with the team, making the Pro Bowl twice in consecutive years (2003 and 2004.)
In 2007, Bly was traded to the Broncos and played two seasons there before being released in early 2009. He then signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers and recorded three interceptions and 13 passes defensed last year.
At 33-years old, his prime is obviously well behind him and his skills have diminished since his Pro Bowl days. Still, the Lions are dangerously weak at cornerback so Bly could have a chance to start opposite Chris Houston on opening day.
