Knowshon Moreno

The Broncos’ starting running back could be seriously injured.

According to the Denver Post, Knowshon Moreno injured his right knee or ankle in practice today and was carted off of the practice field. When he arrived at the team’s facilities, Moreno had to be helped off of the cart by Denver’s training staff.

The injury occurred when the team was lining up for an offense vs. defense contact drill.

Head coach Josh McDaniels, like any Bill Belichick disciple, is extremely secretive about injuries and wouldn’t shed any light on Moreno’s injury; there’s no timetable for his return. Backup Correll Buckhalter was also injured, though McDaniels wouldn’t divulge into that topic either.

We should get an update within the next day or so on both running backs’ statuses.

UPDATE: Regarding Buckhalter, NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora hears that it’s nothing more than a minor hamstring pull. He shouldn’t miss much time.

UPDATE 2: FOX31 in Denver reports that Moreno’s injury was to his right hamstring. The good news is it’s not torn. The bad news is it could be severely strained; onlookers heard a popping noise when he went down. He could be questionable for week one.

UPDATE 3: OK, so Moreno actually has a slight tear, which is a basic strain of the hamstring. He will be out 2-3 weeks.
