Quick change of heart from Buffalo’s general manager.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills will release linebacker/defensive end Aaron Schobel today; just two days after GM Buddy Nix stated the team wouldn’t do so. Though the team said they would try and trade him, apparently no one was interested and Schobel will be let go for nothing.
Schobel previously said he’d be interested in talking with other teams as a free-agent, with the Houston Texans being the first team he mentioned.
It makes sense, too. He grew up about 70 miles west of Houston and is already familiar with the Texans defensive line coach, Bill Kollar, from their days in Buffalo together.
Schobel still wants to play as he officially starts the search for a new team. It shouldn’t be long before someone gives the two-time Pro Bowler a call.
UPDATE: Schobel has been officially released.
