C.J. Spiller

Two days after signing a five-year ($25 million) deal, Buffalo’s first-round pick is establishing himself as a starter right out of the gate.

NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora hears that running back C.J. Spiller will soon start running with the Bills’ first-team offense. To add to that, Spiller is already the main option at both kick returns and punt returns — two areas he really excelled at in college.

Coach Chan Gailey isn’t wasting any time getting his dynamic ninth-overall pick involved. With Spiller’s talent and potential as a game-breaker, compared to the rest of Buffalo’s mediocre offense, it’d be hard to keep him off of the field for an extended period of time.

He will likely split carries with Fred Jackson for now, but that could change depending on if Spiller shows he can carry the load as the starter. Marshawn Lynch is looking like an afterthought right now.
