When Broncos linebacker/pass-rushing extraordinaire Elvis Dumervil went down with a torn pectoral last week, it was a foregone conclusion that he’d miss most, if not all, of the season. That might not necessarily be the case.
Based on “nearly everything” that the Denver Posts’ Mike Klis is hearing, Dumervil is expected back in 2010. Though the team is still insured against his injury, Dumervil is slated to make a full recovery, barring a setback.
This is a much better outlook than what’s been reported recently. Dumervil was injured only two weeks after he cashed in on a five-year extension that included $43 million in guarantees. Most assumed there’d be an outside chance he’d play this season, but nobody was holding their breath.
Now it seems as if Denver will get something out of their sack master this season, even if they have to wait until December.
