New England’s defensive line is in danger of losing one of its starting defensive ends.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, Ty Warren’s hip injury could cause him to miss the entire 2010 season.

Warren opened training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list with the slight hope he would come off of it (similar to WR Wes Welker). Now it seems as if he’s guaranteed to miss the first six weeks of the season and possibly a lot longer.

This is the second tough break for the Patriots in less than one week’s time. Just six days ago, it was reported that left guard Nick Kaczur has a back injury that might end his season.

Coach Bill Belichick will have to get crafty to replace Warren, who’s the team’s most well-rounded end. 2009 sixth-round pick Myron Pryor might be called upon to start, with veteran Damione Lewis in line to pick up snaps.

UPDATE: The Pats placed Warren on injured reserve; he will undergo surgery to repair a torn hip labrum on Monday.
