Here are a couple of tidbits that I felt didn’t deserve two separate posts.

First, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Colts defensive back Jamie Silva is out for the season after tearing his ACL in yesterday’s preseason game against the 49ers. Silva was signed by Indy after going undrafted in 2008 and has primarily been a backup there. His loss won’t affect the team, especially with safety Bob Sanders slated to return to action.

Then there’s the news out of Atlanta. According to SportsCenter’s official Twitter, Matt Bryant has won the competition to be the Falcons’ kicker. He had been in the running with Steve Hauschka to replace Jason Elam, who missed on seven out of nineteen attempts last season. Hauschka was released today, leaving Bryant as the winner by default. Bryant finished his shortened 2009 season by connecting on 70% of his kicks.
