A week can’t go by without news regarding Brett Favre and the never-ending quest to bring him back to Minnesota for another season.
According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, three Vikings — defensive end Jared Allen, guard Steve Hutchinson, and kicker Ryan Longwell — were reportedly sent to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to visit Favre and convince him to return. As we all know by now, Hattiesburg is where Favre resides in the offseason.
All three players were conspicuously absent from practice today after practicing in full yesterday.
Childress has maintained that there’s been no recent contact with Favre, who is biding his time and hoping that his surgically-repaired ankle is good enough to hold up for another full season. Speaking of that ankle, Favre made a follow-up visit last week to Dr. James Andrews, the renowned surgeon who performed the operation. It’s unclear as to how that visit went.
Even with the surprise visit by the players, Favre likely won’t make up his mind for a couple of more weeks at the earliest. The team is running out of time to get an answer, while being very patient about the whole situation.
Stay tuned for more on this because you already KNOW there will be.
UPDATE: Per NFL Network’s Scott Hanson, Favre is currently on a jet heading north. Could we get an answer now that he’s on his way to Minnesota? We’ll have to wait and see.
