Will Allen

Will Allen’s season is over before it even got started.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins placed the four-year starting cornerback on injured reserve today; he’s done for the season.

Allen has been bothered by his left knee, which caused him to miss 10 games last season after it underwent major surgery.

He had a procedure done on August 12 when it started to act up again and had targeted a week three return, but that obviously won’t happen now.

The struggling Sean Smith and Vontae Davis are the projected starters at corner, with newly acquired Benny Sapp as the nickel back. Miami’s pass defense will be tested early and often by opposing offenses.

More roster moves: DE’s Charles Grant and Marques Douglas, along with OL Cory Procter, were released today. With the roster spots open, they added DE Clifton Geathers and OL Joe Reitz.
