Could the Darrelle Revis Watch be coming to an end?
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that Jets coach Rex Ryan met with his star holdout cornerback over the weekend in Florida to discuss the ongoing contract negotiations.
Metha confirms that both sides are talking, though a deal doesn’t appear to be close. Revis would most likely have to sign by Wednesday at the absolute latest in order for him to play in Monday Night’s home opener against the Ravens.
Even though that still seems like a longshot considering how long this has gone on, there are some interesting clues and possible hints that something’s being worked on right now. First, Ryan was scheduled to have a conference call at 6:15pm on Saturday, but canceled and had general manager Mike Tannenbaum handle it instead. Hmm.
Next clues come from Twitter, where seemingly anybody can become a source with one tweet. There are two very interesting tweets that caught my eyes. First is from @CharityLuvs, which is the wife of former Jets running back Leon Washington:
Well at the end of the day u Jet fans will be very happy VERY soon
Why does she have any relevance? Leon Washington and Revis were close as teammates and have remained close as friends. It’s to be assumed that if something went down, Revis would have told Leon, who would have told his wife.
Slightly more implausible is @incarceratedbob, who claims to break news before all other media outlets. Here are some of his tweets from tonight:

**BREAKING NEWS** Darrelle Revis will be signed before Wednesday Night. The deal is all but done & Darrelle is meeting with Jets tmrw
**BREAKING NEWS** Freeing up money yesterday & today let the Jets offer additional Guaranteed money that Revis & his camp wanted. DEAL DONE!
Like I said, implausible but one never knows anymore. Where’s there smoke, there’s fire.
It does seem like Ryan went there voluntarily to get him back before they suit up next Monday night. Let’s see what happens; the next two days will be VERY telling.
