Today shall be known as the day of extensions. First Charles Woodson in Green Bay, then Dallas’ Miles Austin. Now, the Patriots have locked up their future Hall of Fame quarterback for four more seasons.
According to NBC’s Peter King, Tom Brady will sign a four-year extension with the Pats; a deal that’s expected to be historic. The extension, which will be made official tomorrow, is worth $72 million and includes $48.5 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Brady is now the highest paid player per season in league history. Peyton Manning should be re-writing history soon, though, so this record won’t last long.
Tom will be pulling in $6.5 million this year on his current deal. This likely ensures he retires, and enters the Hall, as a Patriot.
Not a bad day for him despite, you know, the car accident.
