Chargers holdout receiver Vincent Jackson is scheduled to meet with an arbitrator this morning who will determine if Jackson is eligible to play in Week 4. Should he win his hearing, two teams are likely to pursue him, including one in the NFC North that will move quick to acquire the Pro Bowl wideout.
According to FOXSports.com’s John Czarnecki, who appeared on local San Diego sports radio, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to offer the Bolts a high draft pick should V-Jax win said grievance. St. Louis will more than likely be in the mix, as well. By winning the hearing, the Chargers couldn’t place him on their Roster Exempt List — making him free to play after his league-imposed suspension is up after Week 3.
Now remember this is just a rumor at this point, but the move would actually make a ton of sense.
Jackson, an elite talent with an incredible mix of size and strength, would flourish in the Vikings’ offense and could become the team’s number one receiver over time. Minnesota — and quarterback Brett Favre — misses Sidney Rice, who’s out with a hip injury.
In the season opener against the Saints, Favre looked out of sync with Percy Harvin and the entire offense sputtered as a whole. A trio with Jackson-Rice-Harvin looks deadly on paper and could be deadly on the field.
I will bring updates after ‘Action Jackson’s’ meeting with the arbitrator is concluded later on today.
