Kevin Kolb

The banged-up Philadelphia Eagles have announced their official injury report today, and it confirms they’ll be without their starting quarterback and middle linebacker for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

The quarterback, of course, is Kevin Kolb and the linebacker is Stewart Bradley, who both suffered concussions in Week 1. This was to be expected after Kolb and Stewart couldn’t pass concussion tests during the week and didn’t participate in a full practice as a result.

Michael Vick will make his first start at QB since 2006 and should be up to the task against a subpar Lions defense. LeSean McCoy will receive plenty of touches, while Vick should do some running of his own. If successful, receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin should be able to get open down the field and behind Detroit’s secondary.

On the defensive side of the ball, Bradley’s absence will no doubt be strongly felt. He is probably their best run-stopping linebacker and containing Jahvid Best could be an issue this week for Philly’s defense. Omar Gaither is expected to start in Bradley’s place.

Philadelphia is lucky to get a favorable matchup this week while they nurse their team back to full health. Detroit will be without Matthew Stafford this week, as Shaun Hill will start in his place. If Vick plays smart football and gets the offense going, I see them winning this one going away and evening their record to 1-1.
