New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka might be out of commission for a very large portion of the season.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Giants are preparing themselves for the fact that Kiwanuka could miss 2-3 months, and possibly longer, with a bulging disk in his neck.
Kiwi woke up this morning with a stiff neck and pain in the area. He then underwent a CAT scan and it revealed the problem.
Kiwanuka will seek a second opinion, which Mort says could change the initial prognosis. Nothing will be close to definitive until he gets that second opinion but at the moment it doesn’t look good.
Kiwi’s had a good start to the season; accumulating four sacks and one forced fumble. This is a situation to watch and we’ll bring you updates as they become available.
