The day just started, but so far this mid-October Friday is shaping up to be a bad one for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Right before wide receiver Terrell Owens was docked $5,000, the league suspended Bengals defensive end Antwan Odom four games without pay for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
It’s a double whammy for Odom, who’s already out with a knee injury. The ban effectively kicks in on Week 7, so he should return in time for the team’s final five games.
News of the possible suspension was made public several weeks back as a foregone conclusion. Odom tried to appeal it, but lost out and will have to serve his time. Jonathan Fanene will likely start in his place at right end.
