So here’s the latest in the Brett Favre-Jenn Sterger saga. Apparently, Sterger only wants one thing and one thing only from Favre, and it’s not the “thing” that got him in trouble in the first place.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Sterger will not accept the NFL’s request for an interview if Favre and herself can meet on a financial settlement, which would prevent her from taking more legal recourse against the Vikings quarterback. Earlier today, Sterger was considering going to the NFL but that could be a scare tactic from Sterger and her legal representative, Joseph Conway.

NFL chief of security, Milt Ahlerich, and the rest of the league’s personnel are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the alleged inappropriate text messages and voicemails Favre sent to Sterger while he was the Jets quarterback in 2008.

Favre, like always, deflected the question and gave a vague answer when pressed earlier in the week.

“That’s a league issue that I just have to leave at that,” Favre said Wednesday.

Favre is due to make $16.5 million this season, so with that, and the vast amounts of money he’s accrued during his legendary career, he should have no problem paying off Sterger and essentially buying his way out of trouble.

This story is far from resolved but it looks as if it’s moving closer to an amicable solution.
