As the San Francisco 49ers loss column grows bigger, the patience of the owners is growing shorter.

Per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Niners owners, John and Jed York, showed displeasure with the team’s coaching following San Francisco’s sixth loss in seven games this season.

“There were some grumbles from the owners about bad coaching,” the source said.

After jumping out to an early lead over the Carolina Panthers, the Niners crumbled down the stretch to give the Panthers their first win of the season.  Coach Mike Singletary, though on the hottest of hot seats, still thinks his team has some fight left in them.

“There’s no doubt in my mind, somehow, someway, we will regroup and we will keep fighting and we will make a season of it. And I still believe we can go to the playoffs. I still believe we can get those things done. We just have to get the right things in place and go from there.”

The York’s look particularly foolish now, having predicted that their club would go on to win the NFC West division in 2010. They gave Singletary a vote of confidence two weeks ago, saying “Mike’s our coach” when asked if he’d be retained for the remainder of the season.

Yahoo’s Jason Cole previously reported that Singletary would have to do something “extraordinary” to hang onto his job in 2011. Extraordinary, in his case, would be defined as running the table, winning the division, and a playoff game or two.

At this rate, Singletary better make sure his resume is up-to-date because he’s going to be looking for work next year.
