Shocking development out of Minnesota. Wide receiver Randy Moss is no longer apart of the team.
According to NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi, the Vikings have waived Randy Moss, less than a month after re-acquiring him from New England for a third-round draft pick.
Moss, who bashed his coaching staff following the team’s fifth loss of the season at the hands of the Patriots, apparently never traveled back to Minnesota with the team. Instead, he stayed in Boston on his own with his family.
Moss will never go through the waiver process, meaning any team can put a claim in on him but the order goes by win-loss record. The Patriots – who Moss said he’d have no problem returning to – own the NFL’s best record so they’d get last dibs. His salary for this season, all $6.4 million of it, will likely be a factor as to who picks up him.
By the end of the day, Moss could be wearing a different uniform, and we’ll bring you the updates along the way.
UPDATE: According to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Dolphins and Seahawks are already showing interest in Moss. Zulgad guesses Miami is doing this to block New England, but it’s anyone’s guess at this point. Prepare for the rumors of his next destination to keep swirling all day.
UPDATE #2: ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes that Moss is open to returning to the Vikings, but it’s “anyone’s guess” if it happens. Moss officially wasn’t listed on the waiver wire for the 31 other teams around the league, but his release is all but done at this point. We should know more tomorrow on where Moss is headed.
